African Union lifts sanctions against Gabon after political transition review

The African Union has lifted sanctions against Gabon after the central African nation was suspended following a coup led by General Brice Oligui Nguema in August 2023. After a two-year transitional period, Nguema was elected president in April with 94 percent of the vote.
